Deborah Farnsworth

Deborah Farnworth is currently serving as the Senior Director of Reactor Operations at University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR). She began that role in October 2023.  Prior to this role, Deborah served Callaway Energy Center – Ameren in several roles. She was Senior Director over Plant Support and Reactor Operations which included acting as the Plant Manager and leading Organizational Effectiveness, Security, Regulatory Affairs, and Training. She was Director of Operations from 2018-2022 and was Director of Work Management from 2017-2018.

Deborah started her career in nuclear power as a student working at Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Company – Evergy and entered the work force at Westinghouse Services Division in 2000. In 2002, Deborah transitioned to Comanche Peak-Vistra where she obtained a Senior Reactor Operator License and qualified as a Station Technical Advisor and Shift Manager. Her roles at Comanche Peak included Radiochemist, Unit Supervisor (SRO), Equipment Reliability Coordinator, Online Work Management Manager, Director of Performance Improvement, Director of Nuclear Oversight, and Training Probation Recovery Manager.

Additionally, Deborah has served the nuclear power industry in several capacities. She co-authored and presented a paper on effects of elevated pH in reactor coolant systems in 2004. She worked on the EPRI committee for Primary-to-Secondary Leakage 2003-2011. She served as the North American Young Generation Nuclear representative on the Reactor Oversight Process committee in 2011. Deborah was a member of the Equipment Reliability Working Group from 2011-2014. She has been a member of INPO/WANO teams for Point Beach, Oconee, Energy Harbor, Fermi, Browns Ferry, and LaSalle nuclear power plants. Deborah was the operations representative for the development of Industry Event Report 21-4 (Improving Plant Reliability).
