Radioisotope Tracers
  • Since radioactivity was discovered, radioactive isotopes have been used as tools with which to gain a better understanding of the chemistry of living systems.

MURR scientists pioneered the development and routine production of two radioisotopes of phosphorus, 32P and 33P, which are now used by researchers throughout the world in protein and DNA analysis.

A current focus in this area is MURR’s development of radioactive nanoparticle tracers – for use in understanding how these unique, novel materials behave in living systems within the environment.
