Michael D. Glascock is a senior research scientist and leader of the
Archaeometry Lab at the University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR). He received his BS degree
in physics from the University of Missouri-Rolla in 1971 and his PhD in nuclear physics from
Iowa State University in 1975. He was a postdoc at the University of Maryland from 1975 to
1978, moving to the University of Missouri in 1979.
Dr. Glascock's research interests are focused on
the application of nuclear analytical techniques to problems in archaeology, geochemistry
and environmental chemistry. The MURR Archaeometry Lab analyzes approximately 5,000
archaeological samples per year for archaeologists from all over the world. Dr. Glascock
has published approximately 200 research articles in journals, books, and conference symposia.
He annually reviews about 10 research proposals for the National Science Foundation and other
national and international funding organizations, as well as some 20 manuscripts for a variety
of journals. He is currently a member of the editorial board of for the journal, Archaeometry.
